Father Rob Kean

Father Rob Kean joined the Chaplaincy in April 2017 from the Diocese of Chelmsford. Rob has been ordained since 2012, and served his curacy in the parishes of Black and Great Notley, then becoming Team Vicar in the Witham and Villages Team, before coming to St Vincent's Chaplaincy. He is married to Angela and they have two grown up children, Sam and Sophie.  He is based at Praia da Luz in the western Algarve.

Father Rob can be contacted by email here or Tel: +351 282 789 660, Mobile: +351 964 236 675

Father Bramwell Bearcroft
Father Bramwell joined the Chaplaincy in September 2021.  Already known to us as a locum, he has worked across Europe as a Priest since retiring early as a headmaster in Somerset UK. He and his wife Jennifer hold French passports and Bramwell is a member of a jazz band in France that plays at a number of summer festivals.. For three years he and Jennifer have owned an apartment in Moncarapacho, between Faro and Tavira. Bought originally to allow them both to play golf more easily in the winter, it also introduced them to the Anglican church here in the Algarve.  Bramwell serves principally in the central and eastern Algarve.

You can contact Father Bramwell by email here or
Mobile: +351 968 271 889.

Licensed Lay Ministers

Picture

Maureen Kyle - Licensed Lay Minister, Boliqueime Church

Maureen retired to the Algarve in 2008 , having spent much of her life working for The Mothers Union both on the world wide trustee board and as diocesan president.  Having  been a Reader/licensed lay minister  in Southwark diocese she is now licensed to the Chaplaincy but worships and ministers at Boliqueime.  She has two married offspring and five grandchildren (at the last count) and visits them regularly.

Fiona Mayes - Licensed Lay minister, St Luke's church

Shortly after her husband Stuart retired, Fiona and Stuart decided to spend most of the year in Portugal and they were delighted to find a C of E there.

On Whit Sunday 2001, she realised God wanted her to study as a reader. The most difficult thing was trying to do the course by computer! She was licensed in Luz church on 10th Dec 2006 and mainly helps in St Luke's church. Does a great Joyce Grenfell as some of us can testify!

John West

John has been coming to the Algarve twice and sometimes three times a year since 2000.
In 2006 he decided that the Algarve was where he wanted to retire to and duly arrived in September 2012, lock, stock, barrel (+ dog!)
He joined the Central congregation around 2010  and thought how friendly it was and is now in his second year as Congregational Warden. John and Judi love the food in the restaurants up in the hills when they can escape.

Sue Storer

Sue is a long-time resident of the Algarve and has served the Chaplaincy in various different roles during that time.  She enjoys golf, travel and sunshine!
